“JAY” The Boxer dog…..
Jay was a couple of months shy of two years of age when he came to us. He had been confined to a 3 by 5 foot chain link pen for most of his life because his owner was deployed to Afghanistan for army duty. As it turned out, when the young man returned following his tour, he couldn’t keep his dog. So….. We became Jay’s new family.
Because this dog had never been socialized, he was pretty much a psychopathic personality from the time he awoke in the morning, until he finally went to sleep at night.
He has a GREAT!!!!!! deal of energy, is extremely intelligent, curious to the point of obsession, weighs sixty-five pounds and is very strong and determined, and just simply out of control.
I enrolled him in Petsmart obedience training and we were expelled at the opening of the second class because of his fear aggression towards other dogs. He would simply just lose his mind at the sight of other dogs. At the time, I was using a standard choke chain to restrain him but he was completely oblivious to its effects.
I had him neutered immediately after I got him… the vet told me it might help….not.
I got on the Internet and researched boxers, training methods, equipment, other people’s testimonials, shock collars, Boxer Rescue of Southern Arizona, and ultimately, when nothing seemed to help, assisted suicide.
This dog was a complete thug, heathen, and maybe even a serial killer.
After a trip to the vet for his rabies shot, I needed the help of the Dr. and two of his assistants to get Jay out of the office and into the truck. Apparently the waiting room had filled with other dogs waiting for their appointments, and Jay went insane when he saw them. The doctor then suggested I contact Al Rossomondo for help.
I have watched Cesar Milan, “The Dog Whisperer” on the National Geographic cable channel, and he seemed to be very good at getting dogs with all kinds of problems to straighten out and fly right … but he’s no Al Rossomondo!
Jay received six instructional/correctional lessons from Al over a seven-week period and is just quite simply a completely different dog. He executes all the basic commands…sit, stay, down, wait, etc. While he still has a lot of energy, I control our daily walks and his behavior. Period. He is calmer in the house and seems to be much happier and less frustrated. It is imperative that you know that you have to continue to work with your dog, but Al will show you the way for optimum results in a very short period of time. Also, Al’s techniques are not abusive or brutal in nature. He simply seems to know how to get and keep, an individual dog’s attention and respect. Jay no longer freaks out at the sight of other dogs. He will ignore them, or will be curious, but no longer drags me down the street face down on the asphalt at forty miles an hour in pursuit. IT’S A MIRACLE!!!!
So…. before you give up on your dog, call Al. I know he can help you. You will get results.
